Cyprus UBO Register: Annual Confirmation Period Opens on 1 October 2026
The Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property has announced the opening of the 2026 annual confirmation period for the Cyprus Register of Beneficial Owners (UBO Register). All entities falling within the applicable requirements must review and confirm their beneficial ownership information between 1 October 2026 and 31 December 2026.

The annual confirmation process is an important corporate compliance obligation for entities registered in Cyprus. Businesses should ensure that the information recorded in the UBO Register is accurate, complete and up to date, even where no changes to their beneficial ownership details have occurred during the year.
Which entities are required to complete the annual confirmation?
The annual confirmation requirement applies to the relevant entities registered in Cyprus, including:
- Companies incorporated or registered under the Cyprus Companies Law, Cap. 113.
- European Public Limited Companies (Societas Europaea – SEs).
- Partnerships.
Depending on the circumstances of each entity, the information requiring confirmation may concern its Beneficial Owners (BOs), Senior Management Officials (SMOs) or applicable due diligence information.
What steps must be taken?
To complete the annual confirmation, entities should first review the information currently recorded in the UBO Register and verify that all relevant details remain correct.
If any information is inaccurate or requires updating, the necessary amendments should be submitted to the UBO Register before proceeding with the annual confirmation. Once any required changes have been made, the entity must complete the annual confirmation through the electronic UBO Register system.
The annual confirmation remains necessary even if there have been no changes to the beneficial ownership information during the year. Entities should therefore not assume that the absence of changes removes their obligation to complete the process.
Deadline and administrative penalties
The annual confirmation period closes on 31 December 2026. Entities that fail to complete the confirmation by the applicable deadline may be subject to administrative penalties.
According to the announced penalty structure, non-compliance may result in a fine of €100 for the first day of non-compliance, followed by €50 for each subsequent day, up to a maximum administrative fine of €5,000.
Given the potential financial consequences of late compliance, entities are encouraged to complete the confirmation well before the end-of-year deadline rather than leave the process until the final days of December.
